Celebrating 30 Years Of 'Street Fighter' The Only Way We Know How - With Memes

Guile's theme goes with EVERYTHING.

Unbelievably, Street Fighter is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. Let's just let that sink in. For a game that made its debut in arcades back in 1987, it's defied all expectations.

But let's be honest, when most of us think of Street Fighter we think of Street Fighter II. This is credited with establishing many of the conventions of the one-on-one fighting genre and it's a sick game.

For those of you born in the late '70s/early '80s, you probably lived and breathed this game. It was a phenomenon.

Recently, with the release of Nintendo Switch, Ultra Street Fighter 2 was announced. According to series producer Yoshinori Ono, this was introduced to 'kick off for our 30th celebration'. It seems that 2017 is going to be a big year for fans of the game.

But let's get to the point, we love memes and you're here for them... right?!

One of the biggest memes regarding Street Fighter has to be 'Hadouken'. For one brief period back in 2013, it was everywhere...

There was also a fucking brilliant meme about how Guile's theme goes with EVERYTHING.

You thought I was messing? No, it really does go with everything.

Gordon Ramsay? Check.

Countdown? Double check.

Even Toy Story can't escape.

I don't know about you, but each and every one of these absolutely cracks me up.

So, thank you, Street Fighter, not just for the hours of gaming - but also for the memes.

I can't leave this without mentioning this brilliant scene where Jackie Chan roleplayed several Street Fighter characters.

Happy birthday, Street Fighter.
