Crash Bandicoot and his horrible three-quarter-length jeans are back, and Nintendo fans have been gobbling up copies of his latest outing faster than a bunch of juicy wumpa fruit.
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is currently sitting at the No. 1 spot of the UK charts and is the fastest selling Switch game of 2018 so far.
The trilogy, which contains remastered versions of the original Crash Bandicoot and its sequels Cortex Strikes Back and Warped, was originally released on PlayStation 4 last summer. The game was a massive hit on PS4, selling over 2.5 million copies by the end of September 2017 alone.
Now the collection has been released on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC, giving even more fans the chance to relive their adventures with one of the most iconic video game characters of the 90s. Luckily for players, the games have aged better than Crash's sense of fashion.
The original three games were developed by Sony studio Naughty Dog, better known these days for monster hits Uncharted and The Last of Us. Vicarious Visions handled the remastered collection, completely recreating the graphics while retaining the platforming gameplay that Crash fans know and love.
The remastered trilogy also included some new features to make the games a bit more modern, including an improved save system and the ability to play through levels as Crash's sister Coco. Vicarious Visions even added a brand new level to the game on all platforms recently, with the new Future Tense stage being the first new Crash Bandicoot mission in years.
Elsewhere on the chart, games from earlier this year like God of War and Mario Tennis Aces are still selling strongly, while Grand Theft Auto V remains in the Top 10 despite being just a few months away from its fifth anniversary.
(Seriously, how are there so many people who don't own GTA V yet?!)
Here is the top ten for last week:
- Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
- The Crew 2
- FIFA 18
- Mario Tennis Aces
- God of War
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Star Wars Battlefront II
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Fallout 4
- Far Cry 5
The N. Sane Trilogy has sold so well that Activision is now developing a similar remastered collection starring Crash's fellow platforming icon Spyro the Dragon.
The Spyro Reignited Trilogy will include the original game as well as sequels Ripto's Revenge and Year of the Dragon, and will be released on PS4 and Xbox One on 21 September.
