Bethesda had a successful E3 2018 and they have some pretty massive games lined up for release over the coming years.
One of the most anticipated games they've confirmed to be working on is the next title in the Elder Scrolls Series, but it could be a long while before we get to play it, as it is only in the "concept and design phase."
Although it's a way off they actually have a release date in mind, but they just don't want to tell us. Director Todd Howard told GameSpot (not during a wedding ceremony) "I do," when asked if they have an idea of when it will be released, and that he "would be foolish to say it."
With Fallout 76 and Starfield already being in production, it will be no surprise to see these two games way before our beloved Elder Scrolls.
This massive delay for the next instalment might be due to the fact Bethesda has these games in the pipeline, but it's also because the correct technology isn't available yet. He doesn't think that current generation consoles have the capability to support their recently announced game, which leads us to believe it will be absolutely huge.
"We've obviously taken our time with [The Elder Scrolls 6], as opposed to jumping right into it.
"We know what we want it to be, and that's gonna take time, technology, other things that we need to build to to really pull it off. And that's what that franchise deserves."
We've recently spoken about both Microsoft and Sony predicting when their new generation consoles will be developed, with the next Xbox being a minimum of two years, whilst the PS5 could be at least three.
We for one are eager for more news on this game after the last title in the series, Skyrim, was one of the best games we have ever played. It might seem like a long time to wait but we'd much rather Bethesda took the time they need to make it the best game it can be, and at least we've got both Fallout 76 and Starfield to play in the meantime.
