Microsoft has received plenty of criticism in the past due to the lack of Xbox One exclusives available, so they created a new studio and bought four more for this reason.
PlayStation exclusives have been brilliant for years, such as the God of War and The Last of Us series, and even upcoming games like Ghost of Tsushima. This is just a small selection of a huge list of PS only games, but Xbox might be coming back on the radar after their recent announcement.
They haven't really had anything new or decent apart from the Halo and Gears of War series, with older games such as Fable also boasting some exclusivity points over the Sony console. They implemented a recent Xbox Game Pass, which includes quite a few cool games, but during E3 this year Microsoft have said that their investment in new teams will allow them to make "bigger risks" and produce "bolder worlds" when developing new Xbox only games.
Xbox boss, Phil Spencer, announced that they have established five teams, which will work under the Microsoft Umbrella, and will include a number of famous developers. The Initiative, which is run by former Tomb Raider boss Darrell Gallagher, is one of the new companies on board, as well as Undead Labs (State of Decay) and Playground Games (Forza Horizon).
They have also partnered up with Hellblade developer, Ninja Theory, and Compulsion Games, who made We Happy Few. Spencer also revealed that Playground is making an all new game, which fans rumour to be Fable 4.
This all comes after long term criticism from fans and the media alike for not having enough Xbox only games and it looks like they've really listened to what people have said.
Although we Xbox players have been waiting for something like this for a while, we probably never thought Fable would once again see the light of day. Lionhead Studios was shut down in 2016 when Fable Legends, the game which nobody wanted, was scrapped and we honestly thought that would be it.
It will be interesting to see what other games Microsoft and their new teams are creating, and although it's only rumours at the minute, we're sure that some sort of confirmation or reveal will come in the near future. A new Fable game would be more than welcome on my console!
