PlayStation Confirms All PS4 Users Can Change Their PSN Online ID From Today

Anyone still trying to pull off a cringe-AF PSN ID? BallGravy, KnobGoblin or CustardFacial just not cutting it any longer? Can't say we blame you, tbf.

So, you'll be pleased to know that Sony has announced that as of today you can change your PSN username, which is no doubt a long-awaited feature for all Playstation users.

The rumours began circulating back in October last year but now the time is here for you to alter any ridiculous names - GamerBoi_69 is no longer.

They will launch the feature later today - and you will be able to make the adjustments on your PS4 OR on your web browser...so you don't even have to wait until you've finished work/school/college/uni/prison.

Sony has posted on a PS4 blog that there might be some instances where certain games aren't compatible with the developments.

The blog says: "All PS4 games originally published on or after April 1, 2018 have been developed to support the online ID change feature.

"However, since they have not all been specifically tested with the feature, we cannot guarantee that they will support it.

"For more details and information, we encourage you to refer to the list of tested games before making a change to your online ID.

"Do keep in mind that the large majority of most actively played PS4 games support the feature."

Here's a list of things you'll probably need or want to know.

First of all there are two ways to change your username.

On your PS4 itself by going to [Settings] then selecting [Account Management] > [Account Information] > [Profile] > [Online ID]. You will then be able to enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.

Alternatively use a web browser and sign in to your PlayStation Network account and select PSN Profile in the menu. Select the Edit button that's next to your Online ID and, again, enter an Online ID of your choice or choose from one of the suggestions.

The feature is only available through a PS4 system or web browser, therefore you won't be able to change the online ID on a PS3 or PS Vita.

And, possibly more importantly - how much will it cost? The first change is free (choose wisely), and changes after that will cost $9.99 USD/CAD. For PlayStation Plus members, it will cost $4.99 US/CAD for each change after the first one.
