PUBG Corp. has announced that its Battle Royale game will bin off map selection in the next update.
This news comes as a surprise. The long requested feature has not long since been introduced, and June 22 will see the feature removed.
Erangel and Miramar are the two maps which players can pick to jump into but Miramar hasn't been as well received as PUBG developers would have liked, with most people only choosing Erangel.
This is what they've had to say:
"We've decided that we can't support individual map selection for more than two maps. This is because map selection creates an essentially exponential increase in the number of total separate queues when combined with other queue options like party size and perspective. That means the matchmaking pool gets split into many small sections, making it nearly impossible to put together a match in at least some of those queues."
Advert
When the third map, Sanhok, is released, players will have the opportunity to pick to just play in that area or a random selection of all three.
It's not a massive change and it won't change gameplay that much, but you might get into games more quickly and efficiently than before.
Is this a good announcement from PUBG, or did you want to hear something else? The new map is set to come out on June 22 on PC and late summer for Xbox. Let's just hope the smaller, 4x4, tropical setting will provide for some brilliant gameplay.
