For anyone over a certain age, this might be the best news you've heard in a while. The remastered and remade Spyro the Dragon games will officially be out on 13 November 2018.

With that in mind, there has been a new trailer released that shows the gameplay and generally cranks up the excitement levels for one of the games that defined some people's childhood.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy will be a complete remake of the first three games in the Spyro The Dragon series.

For those of you who can't name them all off the top of your head, that's Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

The games have been given a new lease of life and the graphics have been brought into 2018. Without getting too far ahead of ourselves, it looks fantastic.

You'll still be able to do all of the things you could previously do in the old games, but you'll now be able to do them with 2018's shimmering graphics and motion.

The Spyro trilogy tells the story of the titular dragon as he journeys across several worlds to release his fellow dragons and defeat the evil 'Gnasty Gnorc'. A tale as old as time, really.

Of course, the original game actually came out back in September 1998, making it just over 20 years old. It was made for the PS1 and was a huge success. The two games that followed posted similar number and enshrined the little dragon into the gaming public's hearts forever.

If you're planning to buy just the physical copy of the game, you'll get the first Spyro game with that and you'll have the option to buy the next two in-game.

It's going to be available on the Xbox One as well as the PS4.

The game is being produced by Activision and Toys for Bob, and it's not exactly been plain sailing for them so far. The release date was put back in September to the current date so that they could get everything just right.

I suppose when the main selling point is nostalgia and the knowledge that the original games were great it's worth getting the remastered versions right.

Back in September, Toys for Bob Studio Head Paul Yan said: "Everyone here at Toys for Bob is so proud to be reigniting the original Spyro trilogy after all these years. We're deeply committed to getting these games right, so we've decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018.

"I really hoped that you would be rescuing dragons and scorching Rhynocs sooner, but the Trilogy needs more love and care. In November when you're exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you'll agree the extra time was worth the wait."

Here's hoping Paul. It's got a lot to live up to.
