YouTuber, 24, Set To Marry Girlfriend, 61, But Age Gap 'Doesn't Worry Them'

People will have their opinions, that's a given in every walk of life and with each situation we are faced with, but Julia Zelg and her partner, Eileen de Freest, bear the brunt of it.

There's a 37-year age gap between the pair, who recently got engaged, and with regular messages of dismay they say that trolls don't have to watch their videos and explain the difference in age has 'almost no impact' on their relationship.

Julia is a 24-year-old YouTuber and 61-year-old Eileen is a BBC Radio political contributor, according to her Instagram account.

They met on Tinder and say that their only worry is that Julia will most likely outlive Eileen.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Julia said: "The major difference between ours and most other relationships is the fact that we must accept the strong likelihood that I will outlive Eileen.

"We must be prepared for a 'built-in' ending to our relationship that wouldn't necessarily be there for a non-age gap couple. We know and accept that reality.

"We came together over love and not an obsession with or fetishisation of age. The difference in our ages has almost no impact on our relationship."

On initially introducing Eileen to her YouTube subscribers, Julia, who is originally from Brazil, told fans: "I've met this woman and she's the most amazing person I've ever met.

"She's just my soulmate. I was just planning to enjoy my single life and have fun and stuff, and in the process of doing that, I met her and just fell for her."

Less than a month after going public, the Mirror reported that the couple moved in together and adopted a kitten called Brittney who lives in their London flat.

Julia added: "Although we make no judgment about anyone else, we don't focus on our age difference but rather our exquisite similarities.

"We have the good fortune to have an extraordinary bond and attraction, the likes of which I've never experienced before. Although neither of us is religious, we both feel blessed to have found one another."
