Keanu Reeves In Talks To Star In Martin Scorsese And Leonardo DiCaprio's New TV Series

The Hulu show, which sees Scorsese and DiCaprio at the helm as executive producers, would mark Reeves’ first major US TV role

Keanu Reeves is in talks to star in Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio’s major new series, according to Deadline.

The Hulu show, which sees Scorsese and DiCaprio at the helm as executive producers, would mark Reeves’ first major US TV role.

The Devil in the White City is a big-budget TV adaptation of Erik Larson’s 2003 book of the same name, which follows the true story of two men – Daniel H. Burnham, one of the architects behind The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893, and Dr. H. H. Holmes, a pharmacist and serial killer who lured his victims to their deaths in his elaborately constructed ‘Murder Castle’.

As Deadline reports, the duo’s fates were ‘forever linked’ by the famous World Fair, with viewers taken on a ‘tour of murder, romance and mystery in the gilded age’.

There’s no word yet on who Reeves will be playing in the series.

Rick Yorn, Sam Shaw, Jennifer Davisson and Stacey Sher will also serve as exec producers, while Todd Field is set to direct the first two episodes of the limited series, which is produced by Paramount TV Studios, ABC Signature and Appian Way.

The project has been in the works ever since DiCaprio bought the film rights to the book way back in 2010. It was previously set up as a feature film at Paramount – with Scorsese as director – but in 2019 Hulu announced it was taking it on as a series.

Speaking to Deadline last year, Sher said she was looking forward to getting the ball rolling with the programme.

She said: “I’m really excited about it and I hope we’re going to make it.

“Sam Shaw has done a remarkable job crafting it. In that case, the challenges were how do you get it down to two-hours, so many enormously talented people have attempted to do that.

“We’re still in development and hopefully getting ready to get out of it soon.”

The news comes fresh off the back of Reeves’ recent turn as Neo in The Matrix Resurrections, having reprised his iconic role for the first time in 18 years.

The latest instalment, which is the fourth film in the franchise, sees Neo and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) back in what appears the Matrix programme, although neither of them recognise each other or remember anything about their past lives.

Reuniting the original stars with director Lana Wachowski, the film also features series newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra, Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff.
