Killing Eve has captured the nation's imagination thanks to some fantastic acting by the fabulous Sandra Oh and Liverpudlian star Jodie Comer.

Sandra is already known within the box-set loving community thanks to her portrayal of Cristina Yang on hospital drama, Grey's Anatomy, however Jodie seems to have come out of nowhere.

In some ways, she's still coming to terms with her newfound fame herself. Recently in an interview with The Telegraph, she said: "I honestly can't imagine not living with my mum and dad. I'm trying to postpone it for as long as possible. I like having these two words - I get to travel and visit cool places, but then go back to reality."

However, Comer has had plenty of other roles before her breakthrough part as Villanelle in the BBC hit show. We've taken a look into her early career, and other things you might not know about the Liverpudlian actor.

Comer was born in Liverpool on 11 March 1993, making her 26 years old.

As many actors do, Jodie began landing smaller roles in UK TV shows such as Holby City, Waterloo Road, The Last Bite, Casualty, Coming Up, Good Cop, Silent Witness, Doctors, and Justice. She told The Evening Standard that she'd tried other routes as well as acting: "I used to do singing, dancing and acting, but as I got older, I realised acting was what I enjoyed. Plus I grew lanky and completely lost all my rhythm."

She then upped her game by acting in several notable shows such as Thirteen, Doctor Foster, Lady Chatterley's Lover, Rillington Place, The White Princess and then My Mad Fat Diary.

The year 2018 was a fantastic year for Jodie. Not only did she land the leading role of a Russian assassin called Villanelle in the TV show Killing Eve, but she was also cast in the action comedy Free Guy opposite A-list celebrity Ryan Reynolds. It was also announced that she would star in the Death of the Nile film adaptation opposite Gal Gadot, Kenneth Branagh and Armie Hammer.

Despite her fame, Comer admitted that she still lives at home. In 2018, she said: "I live in Liverpool, still at home with my mum and dad. I get the best of both worlds. I'm here now for six months [filming in London], but as soon as that six months is over, there's nowhere else I want to go other than home.

"I just love Liverpool. I love London, but I like to leave."

Her audition for Killing Eve

According to Jodie, she'd just been to a music fesitval in Spain before her audition for the Killing Eve part and was still hungover when she got there. She told Build Series: "I was on holiday in Barcelona. I had actually been to a music festival, so I was on a five-day hangover.

"And I was like, 'Right, I've got this 13-hour flight to LA. I've just got to deliver. I don't want to get a 13-hour flight back to Liverpool and be kicking myself.'"

Fortunately, everything worked out. She continued: "It was being in the room with Sandra where it all kind of came together. Within five minutes it was just like we trusted each other."

Her relationship with her brother

Jodie is very close with her brother Charlie and told The Telegraph: "The family are really pleased for me, especially my brother. He is my best mate; he is two years younger than me and I care more about what he thinks than anyone else. Whatever happens, I can't upset our Charlie."

Who's her boyfriend?

In an interview with The Australian, Jodie, from Childwall, said men just don't approach her, describing her love life as 'zero'.

She said: "'I don't know if it's particularly because I've played a psychopath. I don't get approached at all.

"Which is fine - I'm never in one place long enough."
