The latest Star Wars saga is set to come to a dramatic conclusion in The Rise of Skywalker.
Whether you think the latest iterations of the sci-fi franchise live up to the originals or not, you can't deny that we've been treated to an action-packed spectacle with an epic score. If the latest trailer is anything to go by, it looks like Episode IX will sign off with a Death Star sized bang.
The latest film will be bringing back some our favourite characters, including the late Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia. A surprise announcement from Lucasfilm confirmed that 'previously unreleased footage shot for The Force Awakens' would be used in Episode IX, means Fisher's beloved Leia will stay with us to the end - without the use of CGI.

It was confirmed that filming was completed back in January, when Abrams and actor John Boyega (who plays rogue stormtrooper Finn) shared a photo thanking the crew and cast.
"That's a wrap on Star Wars episode 9 and the end to a chapter of my life that I couldn't be more thankful for," said Boyega.
"What a process! It really has been a joy to be in these movies surrounded by amazing people. JJ thank you for making my dreams come true."
Star Wars 9: Rise of Skywalker Runtime
At the time of writing, The Rise of Skywalker doesn't have a published runtime. However, legendary composer John Williams has been asked to write a substantial amount of music for the film according to his brother. He recently revealed: "John's started up with another Star Wars.

"He's got 135 minutes worth of music to write, so that kinda tells you how long the film is."
So, it looks like it's going to be a long one.
Star Wars IX: Rise of Skywalker Trailer
The dramatic trailer was dropped to a lucky selection of fans at the Star Wars Celebration Chicago. The event was hosted by The Late Show presenter Stephen Colbert and featured LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Episode IX director JJ Abrams, who returns to the franchise after taking the helm for 2015's The Force Awakens.
Release Date
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release on 20 December 2019.
