The animated Lion King remake is roaring its way to the big screen this month and, if you weren't excited enough, Disney have dropped some stunning photographs of their cast on Twitter. The pictures only add to the excitement after an enticing trailer featuring Beyoncé and Donald Glover performing a duet in stirred Simba fans into a frenzy.

The 37-year-old superstar sings Elton John's 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight?' no less, which of course first featured in the original The Lion King, which was released in 1994.

When will it be released?

The Lion King will be released on July 19, 2019 which marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the original film in 1994.

Will it feature all the original songs?

Four songs from the original will feature in the remake - Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Hakuna Matata, I Just Can't Wait to Be King, and Circle of Life. Hans Zimmer will also return to score the new film.

Disney also released a new featurette, The Lion King Returns, about the movie with never-before-seen footage from the film. It also included some behind the scenes footage during recording sessions, and comments from director Jon Favreau and members of the cast.

The film is one of many Disney classics being remade for modern audiences - including Beauty and the Beast and The Jungle Book, with Dumbo and Aladdin also on the cards.

But The Lion King is arguably one of the most highly anticipated, given that the original animated version was recently voted the best animated film of all time.

Despite the officially, full-length trailer dropping with cutting-edge animation, not everyone is happy. This outrage stems from the fact that Scar looks a little different. From his original slick, pompous and quite frankly terrifying image, he's now what one guy referred to as a 'ratty looking lion'.

The Lion King is released in cinemas in the UK and the US on 19 July, but if you can't wait that long, pass a few minutes by checking out this lion and his cub sharing a massive cuddle in a real-life Mufasa and Simba moment.
