The new Billie Eilish documentary out on Apple TV+ today has lifted the lid on several aspects of the pop sensation's personal life - including the surprising fact that she had a secret boyfriend.

Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry chronicles Eilish's breakneck rise to stardom from Ocean Eye's going viral in 2016 up to the 2020 Grammy Awards.

It's been a whirlwind rise to success for the star, who still isn't out of her teens, but one of the most surprising aspects of the doc was that she'd had a relationship with rapper 7:AMP - who she nicknames Q - between late 2018 and the summer of 2019.

7:AMP - real name Brandon Adams - first appears in the documentary in late 2018, when Eilish would've been 16 and he 21. Following a clip of a radio interview with KROQ's Kevin and Bean - when she said no boyfriend couldn't compare to her childhood love of Justin Bieber - Eilish is then seen him hugging him and telling him he looks 'good as hell'.

The documentary also shows some tender moments between the pair, including her holding his hand on her 17th birthday, as well as telling him she loves him over the phone.

However, it's also surprisingly candid in portraying how the relationship drifts apart, with Eilish's increasingly hectic touring schedule and Adam's distant behaviour towards her at the same starting to open a schism between the pair.

Backstage in Paris, in early 2019, for instance, Eilish says she felt 'lonely' and 'miserable' on Valentine's Day. When asked if Q had done anything for her, she responds she hadn't 'gotten anything' and added 'and the night before he'd been really weird and distant'.

Later in the year, before Coachella, Eilish is seen missing Adams during preparations for her performance at the festival, lamenting that she'd not seen him in two and a half days. He eventually turns up in her dressing room, where she serenades him with her own tune Xanny.

However, her good mood doesn't last and after the end of her widely-acclaimed performance at the festival she's seen speaking to Adams on the phone, asking him to go and see her to which he apparently replies "I'll try."

She hangs up and throws her phone on the ground.

Ultimately it's clear that the rapper also has some personal issues to deal with, as it's revealed in the doc that he breaks his hand punching a wall. Eilish goes to see him straight after getting her driver's licence but not long afterwards she's seen writing a song with her brother Finneas about a failing relationship.

Billie Eilish is already working on her second album.

It's clear that by Eilish's performance in New York in June 2019 they're no longer an item.

"I just wasn't happy. And I didn't want the same things he wanted and I don't think that's fair, for him," she says backstage.

"I don't think you should be in a relationship, super excited about certain things that the other person couldn't care less about.

"And there was just a lack of effort, I think. I literally was just like, 'Dude, you don't even have enough love to love yourself, you can't love me. And you don't. Like, you think you do'."

She added: "I do love him, though, which is what made it harder.

"Cause I'm not over him. I didn't find someone else. I didn't stop having love for him. I just, like, spent time away from him for a little bit and I was like, 'Wow. I'm missing so much because I'm worried about you all the time'."

According to the Insider, the split the pair have remained on good terms.
