Lily Allen Could Have Been A Billionaire Had She Accepted A Bitcoin Gig

It goes without saying that Lily Allen is an absolute legend, whether she's topping the charts with her hit songs or filming documentaries in the Calais 'jungle', one thing is safe to say: she's smashing it.

But, it turns out that like many of us - whether it was never going on that trip of a lifetime, or the one that got away - she still has her regrets.

According to NME, the 32-year-old once turned down a gig where she was offered 'hundreds of thousands of Bitcoins' to perform. And, if you've seen any of the headlines about Bitcoin's spike in volume recently, you're probably aware that it recently reached its highest price ever, with a single bitcoin worth $10,000 (£7,440) after a surge in the market last week.

In a Tweet from 2014, she described herself as an 'idiot' for refusing to play a gig for the virtual world of Second Life. She would have been paid via the cryptocurrency for her performance.

Although the price has since dropped, the amount Lily was offered would still be worth a lot of money in today's terms.

But, if she had received 200,000 Bitcoins and stashed them until now, they would now be worth around £1.68 billion (£1,682,821,497). Did somebody say 'wowza'?

That would have made her one of the richest people in showbiz, way more of a baller than Madonna, who's worth around £371 million ($499m), and Beyonce, who's worth £260m ($349m).

Earlier this week we reported how Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss - who sued Mark Zuckerberg, claiming he stole their idea for Facebook - have become the world's first Bitcoin billionaires.

The twins made an $11million (£8m) bet on Bitcoin over four years ago, which ballooned over 10,000 percent. Lily must be gutted than she didn't beat them to the achievement.
