Drake has spoken out about having 'unconditional love' for the mother of his son Adonis.

Opening up about his little boy on LeBron James' new HBO series The Shop, the 31-year-old said: "I'm just really excited to be a great father."

He then spoke about his relationship with Adonis' mum Sophie Brussaux, who, I think it's fair to say, he's had a bit of a strained relationship with.

"I am a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, we've had our moments," he explained to LeBron and his co-host Maverick Carter.

"I do want to be able to explain to my son what happened. But I don't have any desire for him to not love his mother. I don't ever want the world to be angry at his mother.

"No matter what happens, I have unconditional love for the mother of my child because I want him to love his mother and I have to project that energy."

Following weeks of rumour and speculation, largely due to a diss track from Pusha T, Drake finally confirmed that he had a son on his album Scorpion, which he released in June.

He referenced being a dad in three tracks - 'Emotionless', '8 Out of 10' and 'March 14'.

In one he seemingly revealed that he and Brussaux had only met twice, rapping: "I had to come to terms with the fact that it's not a maybe. That shit is in stone, sealed and signed.

"She's not my lover like Billie Jean, but the kid is mine. Shit, we only met two times."

In the song Emotionless, he raps: "I wasn't hiding my kid from the world, I was hiding the world from my kid."

Drake initially denied that Brussaux was pregnant with his child. After she hired attorneys to prove paternity and file a claim for child support, in May 2017, a spokesperson for Drake told TMZ: "This woman has a very questionable background. She has admitted to having multiple relationships. We understand she may have problems getting into the United States. She's one of many women claiming he got them pregnant.

"If it is in fact Drake's child, which he does not believe, he would do the right thing by the child."
