Keeping us all on our toes, Eminem has dropped his new album Kamikaze.

The follow-up to last year's Revival album had a 'surprise' release at midnight (east coast time) and features a track titled Venom, which will feature on Tom Hardy's latest flick of the same name.

Sharing the new release, Eminem took to Twitter saying he 'tried not to overthink' it. The album artwork features a fighter plane and has more than a passing resemblance to the Beastie Boys' License to Ill album cover.

The album features 13 tracks and features Royce Da 5'9 and Jessie Reyez, elsewhere Kendrick Lamar is credited as writer on Greater, and Justin Vernon from Bon Iver is also credited for track Fall.

Two tracks are skits, just under a minute long and play as voicemails between the rapper and his manager Paul Rosenberg.

In one Rosenberg tells Eminem he has listened to the new album and ask: "Are you really going just to deride everybody who, you don't like what they have to say about you or the stuff you're working on?

"I don't know if that's really a great idea, it's like what's next, 'Kamikaze 2,' the album where you reply to everybody who didn't like the album that you made replying to everybody that didn't like the previous album? It's a slippery slope, I don't know if it's really a good idea."

Other topics the rapper covers include the Grammys, the press - who he has a dig at for slating Revival - and, of course, President Donald Trump.
