Eminem Sells His Michigan Mansion For Less Than Half Of What He Bought It For

Eminem Sells His Michigan Mansion For Less Than Half Of What He Bought It For

It has a swimming pool and basketball court as well as 22 rooms but the interior is not what you'd expect from an edgy rapper.

Judging from the outside, you'd think Eminem's massive mansion in Rochester Hills, near Detroit, would fetch a pretty penny. But once you take a look inside the sprawling property, you'll see why it's only just been sold.

Rap legend Eminem picked up the huge lot in 2003 for $4.75 million (£3.62 million) and 14 years later he's only managed to get $1.9 million (£1.44 million) at sale. Ouch.

It boasts 22 rooms, 17,500 square feet of living space, an impressive pool and spa area, gigantic lawn and a tennis and basketball court. My flat came with a washing machine, mate, but you don't hear me bragging...

There is so much pinewood decorating virtually every inch of the property that it makes me uncomfortable. There are also floral curtains and a strangely high number of chef statues dotted around the place.

Not that there's anything really wrong with having those things in your house, it just seems a bit strange when it's Eminem's crib. But according to the Daily Mail, he's barely ever stayed in the mansion and prefers to live in another house in nearby Clinton Township.

Surprisingly, it was named in Hot List's Top 10 Rappers' Mansions for 2016, which also included the mega gaffs belonging to 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and Jay Z and Beyoncé.

But the sale is probably the last thing on Eminem's mind as he gears up to release his ninth album, Revival. The 45-year-old released the first single 'Walk on Water', featuring Beyoncé, last week to much hype and praise.

Fans were then treated to a performance of the new material at the MTV EMAs, with Skylar Grey singing the chorus, in London last weekend.

Eminem has revealed the song was inspired by the hip-hop legend's dislike of mumble rap as well as a reflection on his career. He joined producer Rick Rubin and journalist Malcolm Gladwell for a new 'Broken Record' podcast, saying: "When you start out in your career, you have a blank canvas, so you can paint anywhere that you want because the shit ain't been painted on yet.

"And then your second album comes out, and you paint a little more and you paint a little more. By the time you get to your seventh and eighth album you've already painted all over it. There's nowhere else to paint."

Some of the rumoured artists on his new album are Adele, Chance the Rapper, Kid Cudi, Vince Staples and The Weeknd, however none of those names have been confirmed and there's no official release date. I wonder if they have ever stayed at his house.
