Foo Fighters Play On After Festival Pulls The Plug On Them

Foo Fighters Play On After Festival Pulls The Plug On Them

You can't kill the rock.

Foo Fighters haven't really been around much recently. That sucks because they're an incredible band.

Fronted by ex-Nirvana drummer, Dave Grohl, they haven't played a major US show in nearly two years.

However, that all changed recently when they took to the stage at BottleRock festival in California's Napa Valley, following sets from acts such as Maroon 5 and Tom Petty.

Their headline performance was at risk of being cut short when the festival pulled the plug on their sound at 10pm sharp, due to a strict curfew.

'Why does a festival have a curfew?' you may be wondering. Apparently, the festival venue is surrounded by residential areas (maybe not the wisest choice of location for a festival, right?) and after the first BottleRock, neighbours complained so much that a curfew was put in place.

This also saw the power turned off for The Cure in 2014, after their set overran.

However, this didn't stop Foo Fighters, who carried on regardless.

They were given a two-hour slot, but they ran over. It probably had something to do with the fact that Grohl got everyone to sing 'Happy Birthday' to his wife, Jordyn Blum, at one point. But I digress.

The sound was pulled halfway through 'Everlong', but they continued playing. Understandably, the crowd went wild.

They managed to get through most of their set list, including 'Learn To Fly', 'My Hero' and (my personal favourite) 'Best of You'. Sadly, they weren't able to play their new track, 'The Sky Is A Neighbourhood'.

Grohl quipped: "We've got too many fucking songs."

Last year, Taylor Hawkins, the Foo Fighter drummer, told NME: "We will make a new record at some point.

"We won't really be ready until Dave's ready to go. It's on the books, so we'll definitely be playing.

"We never really know, we just wait for a text from Dave saying, 'Hey, let's go down to the studio.'"

It looks like that may have already happened - hopefully 'The Sky Is A Neighbourhood' will be released soon.
