Less than a month after the release of the Arctic Monkeys' fifth studio album, Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, it's been announced that a new BBC special about the band will air tomorrow.

The latest episode of At The BBC - which has previously covered artists such as Adele, Sam Smith, Harry Styles and U2 - will be on tomorrow at 11.05pm BST, after being aired on BBC Radio 1 tonight at 7pm BST.

The Sheffield band posted the news about the broadcast on the Twitter with a picture that looks like it's from about 1972. And not just because of the filter they used.

Whether or not the programme was in the works already or not, the announcement follows an online petition earlier this year that led by fans of the band for the four-piece to be given their own special.

The campaign, which was hosted on Change.org, read: "With the release of Arctic Monkeys' sixth album approaching, it's time for the BBC to celebrate one of the finest British bands of the 21st century at their peak in a one-hour television special."

Like any good father, drummer Matt Helders' dad shared the petition on his Instagram account. At the time of writing, over 3,200 people have signed it. Which probably suggests the petition didn't have much sway over the bosses at the BBC, but hey - you never know.

The petition went on to state that 'the format would be the perfect opportunity to showcase Arctic Monkeys and the top quality British songwriting of Alex Turner to a national audience'.

Given that all six of their albums, from 2006's debut Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not to Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, have hit the number one spot in the UK, it doesn't really seem like the band need the exposure. Still, it should be fun to watch.

They're also playing London's Royal Albert Hall tonight in aid of charity War Child.
