Electronic supergroup Swedish House Mafia are to headline this year's Creamfields festival in Daresbury, Cheshire in 2019.

The group had announced that they were reforming last month and cryptic posters containing the postcode for the music festival had popped up in a few places, including Liverpool's Liverpool One shopping centre and other locations around the world.

Not long after that, festival seemed to confirm the rumours by posting a tweet that read: "We can't wait to be back at Creamfields, WA4 next year."

The Swedish House Mafia consists of DJ and producers Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello. They released two albums back in 2013 but the announced that they were to split up, saying that they were worried about repeating themselves.

Their first shows back - apart from a secret reunion show at a festival in Miami that happened back in March - will take place next May in Sweden's capital Stockholm - obviously - and they'll play three dates in total. Tickets for those events went on sale on October 27th.

Tickets for Creamfields, which will take place between August 22nd and August 25th 2019, go on sale at 9am on Friday 30th November.

No other acts have been announced so far, but previous headliners have included acts like Fatboy Slim, David Guetta, The Chemical Brothers and - of course -Swedish House Mafia on two occasions.

Their reunion was confirmed during a press conference that started out with a very grandiose countdown clock before giving way to a press conference that featured all three members.

As well as the tour and festival appearances, it looks like we could expect to see some new Swedish House Mafia music in the coming years as well.

In a recent interview, SHM member Axwell spoke about why the group went their separate ways and what eventually brought them back together.

He said: "It was time [to split up]. Swedish House Mafia was this crazy machine that we just fell into, right. I don't think that we really knew what we were doing, which is also beautiful...

"We had to spread our wings, do different things, and now after 5-6 years, the thought of being Swedish House Mafia again is like, 'Yeah, this is exciting. Let's see what we can come up with."

Well, let's hope that they can get something together to play at the festival in the North West next year. Oh, and let's hope that it doesn't get rained off like it did in 2012.

People are still pretty bitter about that.
