There aren't many bands that can really kick off a proper party like The Prodigy.

They're one of those bands that when any song is played, you turn to your friend and give each other that look that sort of says: "Here we fucking go." Next thing you know you're jumping around someone's living room at a house party shouting "MAGIC PEOPLE, VOODOO PEOPLE."

Great news then, that the band have announced a huge UK tour.

It was announced that during December, in the run up to Christmas, the electronic outfit would eight dates to get you in the festive spirit.

In typical Prodigy style they sold it with a promotional video that makes you want to jump through the roof...

Dec - London 02 Academy Brixton

And they'll also be playing Munich Zenith, Hanover's Swiss Life Hall and 013 in Tilburg on the 9, 10 and 11 December, respectively.

As with most Prodigy gigs, it won't be a boring affair, but it'll be even more exciting thanks to new songs.

The band's twitter account teased us earlier in the month, saying that a new single would be out later this year, which will be followed by an album early next year.

The last new music to come from Liam Howlett and the lads was in 2015, so we're about due some material.

The Prodigy are often thrown about as one of those bands 'you have to see', because of their energetic shows, fast pace, and of course the craziness of Keith Flint and Maxim.

Formed in Essex in the early 90s they're often credited with pioneering the 'big beat' genre, bringing it to the mainstream. Along with The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx and Groove Armada they made heavy breakbeats and synthesiser based melodies popular, with it being a seen as a mix of dance, techno and acid house music.

Liam Howlett, the brains behind the band, went to his first rave in 1989, which is seen as the inspiration for The Prodigy.
