Arctic Monkeys have announced a new UK arena tour, just days after revealing the name of their highly anticipated new album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

The tour dates will take place throughout September this year, with two shows scheduled for both Manchester and London - kicking off up north on 6 September at Manchester Arena before moving down to the capital on 9 September.

As well as two dates in Arctic Monkeys' hometown, Sheffield (18-19 September), there will also be shows in Birmingham (15 September), Dublin (24 September) and, finally, Newcastle (27 September).

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 13 April.

Support also comes from US band The Lemon Twigs, which is fronted by brothers Brian D'Addario and Michael D'Addario.

The lads have already announced that their new album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, will be released on 11 May this year - something that will have come as great news to fans, given that they've been waiting for new material since 2013's critically and commercially acclaimed AM.

Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino track listing:

  • Star Treatment
  • One Point Perspective
  • American Sports
  • Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino
  • Golden Trunks
  • Four Out Of Five
  • The World's First Ever Monster Truck Front Flip
  • Science Fiction
  • She Looks Like Fun

Last month, frontman Alex Turner reportedly revealed to a fan that music would be arriving 'soon', but remained tight-lipped on the subject of UK tour dates.

Bassist Nick O'Malley also suggested that Arctic Monkeys' sixth album would be released at some point in 2018, telling motorcycling magazine The Ride that 'if it isn't, we've got problems'.

O'Malley has also said that the album process began back in September of last year, although he would only reveal that it took place in a 'top secret location'.

That location could have been somewhere in California, given that they recorded AM and the most recent album by Last Shadow Puppets - Turner's other band with fellow songwriter Miles Kane - out there.

The Monkeys' last album was very well received by critics, with most giving the Sheffield band a four of out five stars - so they've got a lot to live up to with Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.
