It's fair to say that Star Wars actor Carrie Fisher, famous for playing Princess Leia in the franchise and who tragically passed away late last year, lived by a motto of 'do no harm, but take no shit'.

As women continue to come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against producer Harvey Weinstein and other prominent men in Hollywood - as well as women across the globe using the #MeToo hashtag to emphasise how common and accepted sexual assault is - a story has emerged of how Fisher once dealt with someone who sexually harrassed her friend.

Carrie Fisher's friend Heather Ross telephoned a Tucson radio station yesterday to say the late actor had 'no tolerance' for abuses of power in Hollywood. Speaking on Arizona's 94.9 'Morning Mix' show, Ross described how a producer once picked her up for a business dinner, only to then push her against the car seat and hold her down.

Ross described Fisher's reaction when she told her what had happened. She said: "About two weeks later, [Carrie] sent me a message online and she said, 'I just saw (blank) at Sony Studios. I knew he would probably be there, so I went to his office and personally delivered a Tiffany box wrapped with a white bow.'"

Ross continued: "I asked her what was inside and she said, 'It was a cow tongue from Jerry's Famous Deli in Westwood with a note that said, 'If you ever touch my darling Heather or any other woman again, the next delivery will be something of yours in a much smaller box."

"It felt validating to know that this woman, who I love as a friend, was not just a fake Hollywood friend," Ross added. "She was true. She did that on her own... but that's what Carrie Fisher was. She spoke out and she put things out there and in your face."

Fisher will make a posthumous appearance in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, due in cinemas 14 December.
