Lenny Dykstra - an ex-con and former major league centre fielder - has accused actor and old friend Charlie Sheen of murder, according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

In the extensive interview, Dykstra revealed details about his former friendship with the actor, including a further corroboration for allegations that Sheen - who confirmed he was HIV-positive in 2015 - withheld his status from several sexual partners.

CHARLIE SHEEN REVEALS HE IS HIV-POSITIVE:

But the biggest and most unexpected allegation that Dysktra made? That Charlie Sheen once arranged for an ex-assistant's murder.

THR reports that the assistant, Rick Calamaro, died in 2012, having been found by his maid 'lying face-up in his bed beside a bottle of Jack Daniel's, in his longtime Fairfax district apartment.'

The autopsy report listed 'very high' levels of powerful opiate Fentanyl, and also noted that Calamaro had suffered from depression and had been taking prescription meds for pain and anxiety.

The article states that Dykstra claims Calamaro was writing a tell-all book about Sheen, and that this was the reason why he was 'iced'.

After Dysktra got out of jail, he had asked Sheen what had happened to Calamaro, who had overdosed while Dykstra was in prison.

Sheen then apparently replied: "You mean Dead Rick? What fucking happened is the motherfucker tried to blackmail me just like you said - wanted $5 million. I had him fucking iced."

"He said he had a hot dose put in there," Dykstra clarified, using slang for a lethal intravenous injection made for an unsuspecting victim.

The article continues to point out that Dykstra has no proof that what he recollects is accurate. Sheen's current lawyer, Shane Bernard, has also issued a denial of the allegations - saying that Dysktra's 'disturbing, vile and outright ridiculous claims' are unreliable'.

Sheen's ex-fiancee, Scottine 'Brett' Rossi - who filed a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against Sheen amid claims that he hid his HIV-positive status from her - has also said that she is unaware of such an admission relating specifically to Calamaro.

However, based on the comments in her 2015 lawsuit, it's not completely far-fetched - having said that Sheen 'wanted to murder people that he was angry with'.

The suit also mentions a 'hit' that Sheen took out on Rossi's ex-husband, THR reports. The following year Rossi then obtained a restraining order against Sheen, after the LAPD began an investigation into an alleged recording in which he threatened to pay someone $20,000 (£14,400) to 'kick her head in'.
