If you were a fan of the golden era of 90s wrestling you will no doubt be familiar with the loud-mouthed, beer swilling, leather waistcoat-wearing troublemaker that was Stone Cold Steve Austin.

He was a veritable superstar, at the centre of almost every main story line that ran through the - then - WWF - known for his on/off rivalry with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, as well as his hatred of the likes of fellow heavyweights, Kane, The Undertaker and Triple H.

And not to mention his arch nemesis Vince McMahon.

Well like all great things, the heady days of seeing the bald-headed Texan perform the trademark Stone Cold Stunner on his opponents are very much at an end, and as Steve has sailed off into the sunset of retirement he seems to have calmed down somewhat.

You may remember that it was recently revealed that the former wrestler had quit drinking and had in fact gone an incredible 14 days without taking a sip of alcohol.

We were led to believe that this was to be a permanent move, a new look Stone Cold, looking after himself in is advancing years, well apparently that's not quite the case and the 53-year-old decided to put the record straight on a podcast.

According to reports in America, it's just a temporary plan while Steve tries to lose some weight and get fit, reducing the amount of calories he's consuming each day.

The former pro-wrestler is currently limiting himself to 2,700 calories per day, logging everything he consumes using an app.

This doesn't sound like the Stone Cold I came to know and love as a child.

Apparently beer, wine and liquor are just packed with too many calories for our Steve to drink while still trying to maintain a calorie deficit and get back the ripped physique he once paraded around the ring during the Attitude Era.

On the podcast, the dad-of-four said he never planned to give up the booze for good, not a chance in hell.

He said: "There ain't no room in my diet for alcohol at this point in time. I didn't swear off alcohol forever. Why in the fuck would I do that? I enjoy alcohol responsibly as an adult, so therefore I will probably drink until my final day on Earth."

And that's the bottom line, cuz Stone Cold said so!
