His pal, Kevin Hart, also said: "If he were to put himself in that position he would get my support, wholeheartedly."

After Donald Trump became president of the United States, the whole planet knew that pretty much anything was possible. In today's mind-boggling world, it seems anything goes. That now includes professional wrestler, actor and seemingly all-round nice guy Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in the running to take over 'The Donald' in a few years.

First Ellen asks Kevin Hart what he'd think if The Rock ran for president - and his answer was surprisingly sincere.

"I'll give you a serious answer - you know, I give you crap all the time but this is daytime TV... so I'll keep my real opinion between us," he jokes.

"I think the world that we're living in today, you're seeing the real effect that genuine people like Dwayne have, and the one thing about him is that he's very serious when it comes to spreading that love, the laughter and just the upselling of life on a positive level.

"If he were to put himself in that position he would get my support, wholeheartedly. Unless it comes to my financial dollar, then we'd have to talk."

Ellen then turns to The Rock and asks if he really would run.

He replies: "I'm seriously considering it, yes."

This is, of course, just days after The Rock said he couldn't run for president for 2020 for one small reason: his pal, Kevin, who he stars alongside in current film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

"Here's the problem, it's been very flattering," The Rock admitted. "There's been this really interesting uptick in public opinion, [people] wanting that to happen.

"The problem is that [Kevin Hart] will completely sabotage the campaign in 2020, 2024. He'll literally sabotage it from the inside."

"100%," fellow guest Kevin agreed. "I will take you down. I don't want it to happen because it will make you that much better than me, and I just don't want it. I would sabotage it in a heartbeat."

It's also not the first time The Rock has thrown the idea around, telling GQ earlier this year that he was considering it. But the fact that he seems to genuinely be giving it some 'serious' consideration is an interesting development.

Like we said, anything goes. If Trump can do it - and let's not forget that Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor of California - then surely The Rock's got a good chance?
