It's (somehow) been 16 years since the last Austin Powers movie, but Mike Myers has now brought his beloved character's nemesis back to life - as the latest departure from the Donald Trump administration, no less.

In a hilarious skit on the The Tonight Show, Myers was interviewed as Dr Evil via satellite link by host Jimmy Fallon, who asked the despotic genius what his role had been in the White House before he was ousted by Trump.

Evil explaind that he was in line for the position of 'Secretary of Evil', but that the job was ultimately filled by the President's former chief strategist Steve Bannon.

The supervillain also took credit for Trump's military 'space force' - along with 'all the most evil plots'.

"Even deporting 'Dreamers'?" Fallon asked, referring to some 700,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children.

"No, Jimmy, even I have my limits. I'm evil but I'm not a monster," Evil responded.

Evil also talked about making friends in the White House, revealing that he and Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson got along best on the cabinet - because they were 'both evil doctors who didn't know why we were there'.

"What about Don Junior?" Fallon then asked, referring to the President's eldest son.

Evil replied: "Don Junior? Well that guy is creepy AF. He looks like he's missing a facial feature - you just don't know which one."

Fighting back laughter, Fallon asked about Trump's son-in-law and senior advisor: "Did you see much of Jared Kushner?"

Evil replied: "That bitch be gone!"

Discussing what his post-White House plans, Evil added: "Well, I'm going to spend some more time being evil to my family.

"And, of course, I'll be promoting my tell-all book:Fire and Fury and Also Evil and More Fire and Also Magma Too.

"I'd also like to announce my candidacy for President."

Evil revealed that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg would be his running partner - "the only man more hated than Donald Trump right now" - and, holding up a hat, announced that their slogan would be 'make the world evil again'.

While Dr Evil was ostensibly promoting his new book, Myers was appearing on the show to push his new neo-noir movie Terminal.

Also starring Margot Robbie, Simon Pegg, Dexter Fletcher and Max Irons, the film follows the intertwining lives of two assassins, a teacher battling a terminal illness, a waitress leading a double life and an enigmatic janitor.

The film is also the directorial debut of Vaughn Stein, and is due to be released in cinemas this May.
