Anthony Joshua has requested a slot on the undercard of the Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather boxing match if it comes to fruition. I don't know about you but I reckon this definitely needs to happen.

The cheeky question came when Joshua met up with Mayweather during a recent stay in the UK, with the conversation captured by iFL TV.

"Get me on the undercard," Joshua says with a portion of banter. But he adds: "Why not? That's big. It's big. That's legendary shit. That fight will go down in history."

Although many people thought the Notorious vs the Money fight would not go ahead, last week McGregor confirmed that he's signed his half of the deal to fight Mayweather.

UFC president Dana White has said that McGregor has agreed the terms to the boxing match, meaning all that's needed is for Mayweather to sign on.

Considering that Joshua recently beat 41-year-old heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko in one of the most watched PPVs of all time, it would be a little odd for him to be relegated to the undercard.

This was the uppercut by Anthony Joshua that basically was the beginning of the end for Wlad Klitschko in the 11th.

The Klitschko rematch will likely be Joshua's only remaining bout in 2017, meaning that could be a possibility as Mayweather has previously said the dust up could only happen in that year.

McGregor's first outing as a professional boxer is guaranteed to bring in gate revenue and pay-per-view buy-rate figures.

And on popping his John Hancock on the contract to fight Mayweather, the UFC lightweight champion told The Mac Life: "It is an honour to sign this record-breaking deal alongside my partners Zuffa LLC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Paradigm Sports Management.

"The first, and most important, part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on. Congratulations to all parties involved. We now await Al Haymon and his boxer's signature in the coming days."
