Peter Dinklage And Morgan Freeman Face Off In Super Bowl Commercial Rap Battle

The Philadelphia Eagles won the match, but Doritos and Mountain Dew won the adverts

So, the Philadelphia Eagles managed to upset the odds and beat the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LII by 41 points to 33. Yes, Nick Foles - the Eagles back-up quarterback - threw his side to victory over the mighty Tom Brady.

However, just as important as the game on the field is the stuff that happens off the field. Justin Timberlake gave a great half-time show and even performed alongside a projection of Prince in the purple one's home city of Minneapolis.

The adverts, as ever, attracted a lot of attention, and there was a lot of excitement about the teaser for the new Star Wars film - Solo: A Star Wars Story. The most exciting advert of all though wasn't for a film or anything like that. It was for a drink and some crisps.

In a joint advert, Mountain Dew and Doritos staged a rap battle for all of the ages between Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman.

The Game of Thrones star was rapping to Busta Rhymes' ridiculously complex verse from Chris Brown's 'Look At Me Now', whereas Freeman worked his way through Missy Elliot's 'Get Ur Freak On'.

Dinklage's verse was accompanied by flaming chairs and fire breathing, suitably advertising Doritos' new flavour, Doritos Blaze. Morgan made his way through the same set, but coated everything he passed in ice.

A song of ice and fire, if you will.

Both musical artists were featured in the background of the shots too, and Busta told Billboard: "It's an incredible moment and I'm definitely proud of it. I think it's the hottest commercial on the planet.

"I feel that it's one of the best commercials in Super Bowl history.... Our culture of hip-hop is being properly represented. It's a great bag of energy and vibes.

"I loved doing it - the experience on the set was incredible and watching people's energy over it was even more fulfilling for me. I'm basking in the moment."

It's good that he's so happy with it as well, because these spots are not cheap. NBC has reportedly been charging up to £3.5 million ($5m) for a 30-second advert, so Pepsi - who funded the advert - must have paid about £7m ($10m) for the minute-long ad.

Big money involved in this Super Bowl thing, it turns out. Who'd have thought?
