Many fight fans may have been licking their lips at the prospect of flying over to Las Vegas to witness Conor McGregor take on Floyd Mayweather. But once they saw just how much money they'd have to fork out to do so, it's odds-on they suddenly became content with watching it from the couch at home.

However, by the looks of the pay-per-view costs over in America, British fans needn't hold out much hope for being charged the standard fee for box office events.

Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times has reported that to watch in High Definition you'll need to pay $99.99 (£77.60), with Standard Definition costing $89.99 (£69.85).

These prices match the ones for Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao in 2015, which made £350million in PPV sales alone. This time round, on 26 August, 'The Notorious' and 'Money' are expected to make that figure look like chump change.

It's not yet clear how much it'll cost to watch on these shores, but the Mayweather/Pacquiao bout was a record £24.95, so you can expect that as a minimum.

Will it be worth it? Who knows - but if McGregor's prediction for the fight rings true, the main event won't be lasting very long.

According to UFC president Dana White, Conor hasn't been as cocksure as when he foresaw KO-ing Jose Aldo in the first round, but does believe the Mayweather fight won't go beyond the halfway mark.

"On the world tour for Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor, McGregor was saying 'I will finish this guy in the first round'. This is the greatest 145lber ever, the only 145lbs champion ever in UFC history. Conor knocked him out in 13 seconds," White said on Speak for Yourself.

"So last night I landed at LAX and Conor landed at the same time from Ireland. I was waiting for him to get out of the plane. He gets off the flight from Ireland and looks like he was just fitted from Armani.

"And he says, 'I will knock this man out within four rounds.'"

Whether this prediction will come true is a completely different story, as many believe that Mayweather, whose boxing record stands at 49-0, may prove too big a task for The Notorious.
