Real Life FIFA Glitch Occurs In German Football Match

Dealing with a routine long-ball over the top from visitors Ingolstadt, it looked to have been a fairly straightforward task

A real-life FIFA glitch has taken place in a German second division game between Duisburg and Ingolstadt and it was all down to the goalkeeper.

Duisburg's No.1 Mark Flekken saved a penalty in the 11th minute when he denied Stefan Kutschke from 12 yards later but then seven minutes later, in one of the most bizarre things you will ever have seen in a football game, he gifted the same player an equaliser in sensational fashion.

Dealing with a routine long-ball over the top from visitors Ingolstadt, it looked to have been a fairly straightforward task for centre-back Gerrit Nauber, who headed the ball back to his goalkeeper despite being under pressure from an opponent.

It would have been a tidy piece of defensive play if Dutch goalkeeper Flekken hadn't turned his back on play and stood behind the goal-line as if he was fetching his drink.

With Flekken 'glitching out' and it being too late when he turned around, Kutschke capitalised and scored the easiest goal of his career. Utterly incredible stuff.

Did he forget he was playing in a game or was a bit of match-fixing going on? Flekken certainly has a lot of questions to answer to.

Fortunately for him though, his blushes were spared to an extent as his blunder didn't prove too costly in the end - his teaming win 2-1 courtesy of Borys Taschy's winner in the 66th minute.

The absurd moment of madness today is the second bizarre goalkeeping gaffe we've been treated to in the last few months or so.

On November 4 2017, Mainz goalkeeper Robin Zentner invented the "ghost pass" against Borussia Monchengladbach when he tried to play a pass in his own penalty box but ended up thinking the penalty spot was the ball.

Football, bloody hell.
