'The Mountain' Challenges Conor McGregor To A Real Fight

'The Mountain' Challenges Conor McGregor To A Real Fight

Believe it or not, both of them reckon they would win.

Remember that video that came out a few years back when we saw Conor McGregor squaring off against 'The Mountain' Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson?

In the 2015 clip they only threw a couple of body shots and it seemed like it was all a bit of a joke, but a throwaway comment from McGregor has angered the big man and now the Icelandic World's Strongest Man Champion wants to settle it once and for all.

In the video, McGregor wrestled a bit with the 400-pound bodybuilder Björnsson, before they had a little punch at each other. The video served everyone's purpose as it went viral and was viewed more than 40 million times. Not bad numbers by anyone's definition.

For Conor, it was mostly a promotional exercise to hype up for his fight against Jose Aldo, but you know what Conor is like, he started running his mouth at Björnsson after the fact.

He said: "It was a lot of fun. That's a big man - 6-foot-9, 400 pounds. And I still folded him up."

Well, it turns out that huge Icelandic bodybuilders also have quite a long memory and an easily bruised pride.

He didn't like the idea that Conor was saying that he beat him in what he presumably thought was a joke fight. Conor barely comes up to his chest, for Christ's sake.

The Mountain, perhaps understandably, thinks that there wouldn't be that much of a fight between him and 'The Notorious' McGregor.

In an interview with Off the Ball, he said: "Bring me some shorts and put us in a cage, I'll fight again. I had him a few times, but I just didn't want to break him. I was like, 'Fuck this, I'm not going to run after this small guy!'

"He's running around, you know? I don't have cardio for running around after small guys."

Obviously, the reality is that the fight will most likely never happen. After all, Conor is probably the better fighter, but 'The Mountain' would presumably only have to get him once to knock him out. His hands are about the about the size of McGregor's head.

On the other hand, could Björnsson live with Conor's speed? Big men get tired, and Conor punches well above his weight for a small guy. Maybe somebody should make this fight after all. After chasing Conor about a ring for ages, how much fight would be left in the big man?

Or maybe 'The Mountain' would just crush Conor's head like a peanut.

What do you mean that wasn't real?
