PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has come on sale for the first time at Steam since its release on the website.

The Battle Royale title boasted a $30 price tag which it never needed to lower, as it has sold tens of millions of copies between the Xbox and PC platforms since it's March 2017 launch.

In a sales announcement on Steam, PUBG stated that it "has now sold over 50 million units worldwide. With PUBG Mobile included, there are now over 400 million registered PUBG players worldwide. Over 87 million people play PUBG every day across all our platforms."

This is a pretty impressive feat for a game which has so many competitors, and to celebrate they have decided to give players who have never experienced it the opportunity to at a cheaper rate.

"To celebrate these new milestones, we're putting PUBG on sale on Steam from June 19th (later today!) through July 5th. If you want to pick up the game for the first time or gift it to a friend, you'll be able to grab it for just $19.99 (33.33% off the normal price)."

Aw, how nice. They continued: "We're genuinely humbled by PUBG's ongoing success and growth, and we're incredibly optimistic about the game's future. We're going to keep working on new content and improvements for all versions of the game. We know there's still so much we can do to make PUBG a better game for our players.

"Thanks so much to all of you for joining us on this wild ride."

This sale partners with the new patch being issued on 5 July, which includes the 4 km x 4 km Sanhok tropical map and an exclusive gun, the QBZ95 assault rifle. The last map released wasn't as well received as PUBG had hoped, so expect this one to be miles better as they would have implemented everything they learned from the last.

More importantly, match winners will now get even longer to boast their chicken dinners after the game ends, and of course a load of bug fixes and other technical stuff will also be taking place.
