Serious Sam 4 Boasts 100,000 Enemies and Massive Map

The next instalment to the Serious Sam series is apparently going to be the biggest yet.

Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass is set to be an absolutely massive game, where tons of enemies fill a never ending map.

Well, of course it does end but it's ridiculously big and it will allow up to 16 of to explore its openness.

It's reported that up to 100,000 enemies will litter the 128km map and they could all be visible on screen at the same time - not all the time though.

Daniel Lucic, from the developers Croteam, told VG24/7: "We've always been about lots of enemies attacking you at the same time. Previously it was maybe dozens. This time it's thousands, possibly tens of thousands at the same time.

"The system that allows us to use tens of thousands of enemies at once on screen, I believe we've gotten up now to 100,000 enemies."

Carnage? I think so. The mad shooter sees enemies pile one after the other with only one goal in mind - you! It might not sound like a fresh idea but the guys over at Croteam have created a brand new engine, so their game can do exactly what they want (which is also why it has taken so long to come out).

"People have been asking for it for over 7 years now," Lucic said, "It's something we've been developing for a couple of years.

"The point is all of those enemies are real and you can kill them. You only have to kill as many as necessary to get through enemy lines, but I'm pretty sure someone is going to try and kill all of them and I'm pretty sure they're going to succeed at some point. They're all killable, they're not for show."

Challenge accepted. It's expected that all of the map can be explored, by all 16 of your co-op buddies, and there will be plenty of things for you to do and discover whilst on your travels.

"We were always big on exploring. People used to spend months exploring for any secrets. If you decide to go up there on the mountain it will take you a while but you'll probably find something that will enrich your experience."

The game is planned to be somewhat linear, rather than fully open world, and for some reason the main focus of the story will be situated in a 4x4 section of the map. It will be interesting to find out why this is the case, whenever that will be, as there is currently no release date for this game.
