The Witcher star Anya Chalotra has said that she ‘suffered with anxiety’ over the pressure of bringing her role as Yennefer of Vengerberg to life. You can see the trailer for season two below.
Chalotra took on one of the main roles in the huge Netflix show as a relatively inexperienced actor, and said that the pressure of reimagining such an iconic franchise in fantasy books and video games initially got to her.

When asked whether she ever let it get to her, Chalotra responded: “Yeah, huge amounts.
“I suffered with anxiety over it.
“I think initially the pressure was from myself to every day live up to, but when it came to this part I hadn’t had the experience on set that I would have wanted to, to step into this part and do it justice, so I was hesitant to do that.
“But, all I had to do was trust my instinct which I did.”
Luckily, this time around – and after the runaway success of the first series - the whole thing seems a bit easier.

Chalotra said: “Weirdly, I feel less pressure, because so much of myself was exposed in season one.
“So much emotion I had to go through, an emotional journey that I had to go on.
“I feel like the perfectionist in me kind of let go and everything is there.
“So, I can be fully present with the choices that I make now, rather than let fear come into that at all.”

She added: “Going through season one and feeling more confident for season two and weirdly feeling less pressure, with regards to how big the fandom was and how big the expectation was, I had none.
“I didn’t really know until someone got hold of my casting before it had even come out, and I was like ‘wow, there are some serious fans out there who want to know who Yennefer of Vengerberg is’.
“That was my first introduction to how big the fandom was, but I never expected it to be as big as it is now.

“Hopefully it is growing, and I hope season two is loved.”
Well, for those who are excited for it to get going, and to see how Chalotra and her co-stars Henry Cavill, Joey Batey, and Freya Allan get on, the good news is that you’ve not got long to wait.
Season two of The Witcher will be available to watch on Netflix from 17 December.
