Davina McCall recalls awkward mistake she made when she took clothes off in Big Brother interview

Great British TV has given us many iconic and unforgettable reality moments over the past few decades, but there was one from no other than Big Brother that stands out from the rest.

And no, it's not 'David's dead', but that was a close contender.

Having been part of the Big Brother series from the off, Davina McCall was considered the ‘it’ girl of presenting, but she took it to a whole new level in Big Brother 6 during Sam Heuston’s exit interview.

This is purely because Heuston had quite the fondness for wearing bikinis while in the house, so McCall hatched a plan to make her exit the funniest and most memorable of the season:

Obviously, it worked.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, the award-winning TV presenter went on to explain the situation, how she planned it and also her biggest regret during the filming.

She said: “So, Sam who I was interviewing has spent her whole time in the big brother house in a bikini and we thought ‘what can we do that would be quite funny?’

“Then me and the producer- on our own- said ‘let’s not tell anyone'."

They made a plan to keep it hush hush from production until the hilarious moment.

“Let’s not tell the floor manager, let’s not tell the camera man, let’s not tell the director. No one.

“Let’s go and put a bikini on and then a coat and then, in the ad break, change into the coat and then come back out and go get her from the house.”

But she was very nearly caught out as the floor manager noticed she had ‘changed into a kind of trench coat dress but didn’t say anything’.

So, she then ‘started the interview and I went, ‘Sam, I’m a bit hot actually’, and I stood up and took off my coat and the cameraman who was filming me went like that (looking out at her) from behind his camera in case something was wrong with his camera.”

But it ended up being all good and she made it through the interview after dropping her trench coat to reveal a small black bikini to Heuston and the crowd.

Though, McCall didn’t think about where the audience would be at the end of her bit.

She joked: “I felt quite confident and I had forgotten that I had to stand up at the end of the interview and everyone was in the circle around me underneath, staring up my arse and at my vagina from the front.”

“It was vagina level and I had my cards here over my vajayjay thinking, ‘oh this is quite, like brutal’- just trying to do the end piece to the cameras as quickly as possible.”

Obviously, it was a moment that will go down in history and of course she smashed it.

Fans of McCall took to the comment section of the TikTok video to commend her choice to shock the crowd.

One user wrote: “Davina McCall is such an icon”.

Another penned: “I love Davina - there is something so authentic about her. I bet she makes a great friend.”
