BBC viewers switch off after spotting ‘unbearable’ recurring theme

Michael McIntyre's Big Show viewers were divided by the BBC episode.

Michael McIntyre's Big Show viewers were divided by the episode after some pointed out an 'unbearable’ recurring theme.

The stand up TV series - which features celebrity guests, musical performances and comedy sketches - returned to our screens last week following a covid-related break from filming.

"There isn’t a day that goes by without someone telling me how much they love this show, although strangely nobody seems to know what it’s called," McIntyre told the BBC last year, ahead of the new series.

"It’s either; ’The one where you take people’s phones’, ’The one where you wake people up in the night’, ’The one where the wall falls down’ or ’The Big Night in’.

"Well, I’m thrilled to announce that all four of those shows are set to return for a seventh series!”

Now, it seems that Saturday night's celebrity guest forced some viewers to 'switch off' from the programme entirely.

In one segment, The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh was lying in bed shirtless when he's 'woken up' by the comedian for a chat.

Some were complaining that Walsh 'was on every show at the moment'.

"Caught about two minutes of that Michael McIntyre show, the volume had to go down immediately and then the entire TV got switched off after that," one person tweeted.

"Is there a show Bradley Walsh says no appearing on?" another added.

"Ugh not Bradley again, I am switching off," a third said.

However, not everyone was so against his appearance, as one fan wrote: "This is worth every penny of the licence fee."

"I was laughing so much at this!" a second tweeted, while a third added: "Just brilliant. So funny, genius."

This comes after a contestant on The Chase got a funny telling off from Walsh after he made the whole studio laugh with a rude joke.

During last week's episode on 17 January, the big laughing moment was all thanks to a joke from contestant Reece, who was the second of his team to face chaser, Paul Sinha.

As Reece was two from home and desperate to get his £7,000 back to the team, The Sinnerman bared down on him, leaving little breathing room between the pair.

It was bad luck Reece was then posed with a question he admitted he didn't know the answer to.

Asked to pick whether a 'finial' in ceramics means an ornate spout, relief panel or decorative knob, Reece plumped for the decorative knob.

"I know quite a lot about decorative knobs," Reece said as he explained his guess to the question, with Paul chipping in right afterwards to quip, 'we all do'.

The veteran host somewhat managed to keep in his laugh, while everyone else in the studio loled away.

Theatrically gesturing Reece over for a chat, he told the contestant: "Don't come on here ruining my show."
