Ant McPartlin will return to our television screens in the New Year, it has been announced.

According to reports in The Sun, the one half of comedy double act Ant and Dec, has been cleared to get back into work next month.

The prime time megastar is set to get back to the grind when he starts filming the auditions for Britain's Got Talent, in January and he could even be back hosting live shows with his partner in crime, Declan Donnelly, later in the year.

And if the reports are to be believed the 43-year-old is also due to head back Down Under next year with return to his co-hosting job on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here, a position that has been filled by Holly Willoughby in his absence, this year.

The pair could be reunited in just a month's time.

And though Holly has gone down well with audiences, this will surely be music to the ears of the Geordie's fans, who have sorely missed his on-screen chemistry with his best mate.

According to the report, a source close to the star said: "Ant has completed his recovery and ITV has decided he is ready to be back at work for Britain's Got Talent filming, which starts next month.

"It's been an incredibly difficult two-year period but he has been entirely focused on turning his life around in order to return to work.

"ITV is very excited about Ant and Dec being reunited - but Ant's recovery has been everyone's first priority."

Ant's return comes after he took eight months off work after crashing his car in a drink drive incident.

The presenter's troubled life has been well-documented in recent months, including his battle with drugs and alcohol, which caused him to miss live shows of Britain's Got Talent last year, as well as an entire series of I'm A Celebrity.

Earlier this year it was also announced that the entertainer had divorced from wife Lisa Armstrong, who had been married to for the past 12 years.

The couple, who got hitched in 2006, announced their separation in January this year after a 23-year relationship.

The couple were granted a decree nisi at the Central Family Court today, with judge Alun Jenkins taking just 30 seconds to authorise the decision.
