A tweet from former Big Brother housemate Rebekah Shelton yesterday claimed that the star had died. However, in a bizarre turn of events, it turns out that the star is very much alive, and she's currently just on holiday right now.

Rebekah has explained that she's been the unfortunate victim of a death hoax, and that her account had been hacked.

The original tweet reportedly read: "We're sorry to inform everyone of the sad news that our wonderful and lovely Rebekah died unexpectedly on Wednesday night. We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time."

But Rebekah explained that she's been the unfortunate victim of a death hoax, and that her account had been hacked.

Today a desperate Rebekah tweeted: "I'm not dead!!!!!! Please stop spreading this news!!!!! My lawyer is already working on this and this person who wants to spoil my happiness is going to pay for it!!!!!"

The video that she posted alongside the tweet also explained: "Hi everyone. I just wanted to say please stop spreading the news that I'm dead.

"Obviously I'm not. I've been through hell today because someone used my Twitter account to write that stupid status about me.

"This person can't accept the fact that I'm happy, that I overcame all my problems and then I'm finally living my life happy. I'm on holiday in Arabia and I'm not dead."

Rebekah appeared on the reality TV show back in 2009 as Rodrigo Lopes. Since then, Lopes underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2014, and after two years living as a woman, confirmed on Twitter that she had transitioned to a woman.

Apparently her experience with surgery hasn't always been entirely positive, and during an appearance on Judge Rinder in 2016 she revealed that she'd be struggling to cope after botched breast surgery.

On the show, she said: "I regretted it as soon as I had it. I had nobody in hospital with me. I spent a month in hospital in intensive care and I didn't get any calls from my family or anything.

"I saw that horrible thing between my legs and I started crying around the hospital saying, 'I regret, I regret.' I wanted to kill myself because it was a nightmare."

However, since that appearance, we've not heard an awful lot from her. Other from a 'new profile pic' post at the end of last year, the last time the star seems to have tweeted from the account was at the beginning of June 2015, meaning the news of her unfortunate passing seemed scarily credible.
