Ed Sheeran Says He Wants To Do 'Love Scene' With Incredibly Famous Actress

I guess that sounds weird, doesn't it?"

He might have sung about a Galway girl, but Ed Sheeran has tastes that are aimed a little bit closer to home...and perhaps a little bit older. Thinking out loud on ITV's Lorraine show, the chart-slaying singer-songwriter expressed his love for veteran actress Helen Mirren.

Sheeran shocked the show's Dan Wootton and her audience by declaring his affections for the Academy Award winner on a pre-Glastonbury promo appearance.

"I've always loved Helen Mirren," he said. "Me and Helen could do a love scene... I guess that sounds weird, doesn't it?" You said it first, Ed.

The 'Shape of You' star is currently in a relationship with Cherry Seaborn, a childhood friend. He was reported to have become engaged to Seaborn back in May, after Russell Crowe blurted it out on his radio show in Australia, but Sheeran later denied it, telling the Sun: "You know, he's [Crowe} only met Cherry once and I didn't introduce her... I didn't say anything, I think he just assumed. But no, we're not engaged."

Wonder what Cherry will think now that she knows that she's up against a national treasure in Helen Mirren.

The Suffolk songwriter, 26, thought that his stage skills might stand in the way of making his dream match with the star actress, 71, who has portrayed both Queen Elizabeths and a host of Shakespearean roles.

He said: "I'm not really a good actor, and she's a very good actress, so I don't think she'd want to do it."

Don't give up the day job yet, Ed.

Speaking of which, Sheeran was on the show to talk up his forthcoming appearance at Glasto, where he'll be headlining the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night.

He might be feeling the nerves a little, telling interviewer Dan: "I usually don't warm up, but I think I'll warm up for Glastonbury. Victoria and David [Beckham] are coming down!"

As long as Helen Mirren doesn't make a surprise appearance at the side of the stage, we're sure he'll be able to cope.
