'Game Of Thrones' Convention Coming To The UK

If you've got a massive Game of Thrones shaped hole in your life right now, then do I have good news for you? Yes. I do.

Because a Game of Thrones convention is hitting the UK this year featuring stars of the show and a make-over of the Manchester-based venue into a min Westeros.

You can spend the day with White Walkers and residents of the Kings Landing at the event, called ThronesCon, which hits Manchester's Printworks on 3 June.

A number of stars, including Lancel Lannister (Eugene Simon), Sir Barristain Selmy (Ian McElhinney) and Mace Tyrell (Roger Ashton-Griffiths) have all been confirmed to appear at the event. There will be more actors announced later in the year - and there's also going to be a host of crew members, including make-up artists and members of the special-effects team.

Fans of the show will be able to grab some autographs and take part in a question and answer session with the stars. The venue will also have a pop-up medieval market. This event managed to sound totally nerdy and properly cool at the same time.

The event is being organised by DiagCon, which previously had a massive success with a Harry Potter themed convention in the same venue - with both days selling out.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Carl Whiteley from DiagCon said: "We're really excited about this Game of Thrones fan convention, we already know it's going to be an amazing weekend!

"We were really pleased to see everyone get on board with the Harry Potter fan convention, therefore, we knew we'd be onto a winner with Game of Thrones."

Fred Booth, centre director of The Printworks, added: "Following the success of the Harry Potter announcement this promises to be a hugely popular convention and we are thrilled to be hosting it here at The Printworks.

"There are some great guests in the pipeline plus there will be a host of great offers from our tenants throughout the weekend. It promises to be a great day for all the family but tickets will sell out so we urge people to book now to avoid disappointment."
