Jeremy Corbyn Will Share The Sofa On ‘Gogglebox’ With A Mystery Guest

Could it be his best mate Stormzy, or the Prime Minister Theresa May?

As a TV show about watching other people watching TV, Gogglebox is a sure-fire way to bring people together.

People from all walks of life share the experience of enjoying a few hours in front of the box, and it seems like Jeremy Corbyn is no exception.

The Labour leader is set to feature in a celebrity special of the cult Channel 4 show to help raise money for Stand Up for Cancer.

Corbyn will follow in the footsteps of previous guests to appear on the special edition of the show such as Hot Fuzz's Nick Frost and England footballers Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge.

The charity episode is due to be filmed this coming weekend and is set to air next Friday 3 November.

The leader of the opposition is set to be joined on the sofa by a mystery guest to mull over a selection of TV programmes.

A Labour spokesperson has said: "He's really looking forward to it - it's a great programme for a great cause."

We don't yet know which TV shows Jezza will be watching as part of the celebrity special but EastEnders is likely to be one of them.

Corbyn is a known fan of the soap, admitting after this year's general election that he wanted to catch up on all the episodes that he had missed.

Corbyn also revealed that he watched Casualty ahead of this year's Labour Party conference in Brighton.

However, Corbyn is not exactly renowned for being an expert when it comes to TV knowledge.

Last summer Corbyn was criticised for failing to recognise Ant and Dec during a leadership debate held on The Victoria Derbyshire Show.

The comic potential offered by Jezza's appearance on Gogglebox is obvious, particularly when it comes to the mystery guest.

Could Jezza's mystery sofa-sharer end up being his best mate Stormzy? Or even... the Prime Minister Theresa May?

The pair may not be able to agree on policy but maybe watching an episode of First Dates is somewhere they can find common ground.

Hey, you never know.
