This Morning's mainstay presenters, Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, have been one of daytime TV's favourite double acts for some time now, having long supplanted the show's original hosts, Richard 'Partridge' Madely and ('the long-suffering') Judy Finnegan.

Such is their importance to the show, it sort of feels wrong when someone else stands in for them. Like today with Ben Shephard and Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.

Even though they were only standing in, they managed to get their moment in the spotlight thanks to the latter's eating habits.

Viewers were apparently disgusted by Holden's actions while she was being taught how to make the perfect pavlova.

Dipping her finger into a bowl of cream to get a taste, as we all do, she dropped some on the floor. Now, I don't know about you, but if I was at home I'd probably dive in, scoop it up and put it in my mouth. However, when you're on telly...?

Chef Yotam Ottolenghi, demonstrating his talents, didn't really seem fazed - probably because if your food tastes nice off the floor, it'll taste nice off a plate. Meanwhile Shephard quipped: "That's awkward."

To add even more fuel to the fire, viewers, who are clearly down with kitchen etiquette, noticed that after Amanda swiped up the cream from the floor, and then licked her fingers, she started to handle the grub. The fucking cheek of it.

Someone on Twitter went as far as labeling the presenter a tramp, which seems a bit much. On the other hand there were some people who saw past the cream incident, failing to understand how people could be more irritated by that than Ben Shephard.

There was plenty of outcry on Twitter, as you'd expect.

A lot of anger was aimed at the presenting pair, who just didn't quite cut the mustard in the opinion of the show's avid viewers.

One person wrote: "Went to put This Morning on, saw that Amanda Holden is presenting so I switched back over again."

Another added: "Ben Shepherd and Amanda Holden on ffs. Both irritating critters."
