Ed Sheeran Is Christmas Number One

It's been a hell of year for Ed Sheeran and he's just capped it off by bagging himself the Christmas number one.

His song Perfect, featuring Beyoncé, has topped the Official Single Chart this evening, meaning he's got the coveted Christmas number one, following in the footsteps of such musical geniuses as Mr Blobby and Ben Haenow.

The ginger singer has an unbelievable year, with his album Divide selling 432,000 copies in a mere three days (THREE FUCKING DAYS) and managing to outsell the entire UK Top 200 twice over.

The 26-year-old faced competition from X Factor winners Rak-Su and singer Rita Ora, as well as Wham's Last Christmas, which has shockingly never been Christmas number one, but said he was 'very proud' to be named the festive chart-topper.

He told officialcharts.com: "Thank you very much for making Perfect Christmas Number One. This is an actual dream come true and I'm very proud and happy. Thank you so much and have a very Merry Christmas, happy holidays and a Happy New Year."

And shared a lovely Christmassy snap of him holding a silver number one next to a tree, with the caption: "Perfect is Christmas number one! Merry Christmas everyone, have a wonderful holiday with your families, see you in the new year x"

He's frustratingly likeable, isn't he, Ed?

People rushed to congratulate the singer online:

Congrats, Ed.
