Here's What The Cast Of 'Jackass' Have Been Up To Over The Years

Here's What The Cast Of 'Jackass' Have Been Up To Over The Years

"Hi I'm Johnny Knoxville, welcome to Jackass!"

Recently people have been immersing themselves in the happiness that is coming from Bam Margera's Instagram account, as he pursues his way back into skateboarding.

After a rocky few years following his best friend Ryan Dunn's death, it seems that Bam has got his priorities right and is on the straight and narrow. He, much like his Jackass co-star, Johnny Knoxville, has been fairly quiet, yet been up to a lot.

The pair were the stars on the Jackass TV show and subsequent movies, but their success was helped by seven other men, who were there every step of the way.

Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Ryan Dunn, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England and Ehren McGhehey all held their own during years of stunts and pranks, with many ups and downs between them.

But what are they all up to now?

Steve-O

Real name Stephen Glover, he was a much-loved addition to the cast. He began his stunts at Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College in 1997, from which he graduated to become a professional clown.

Following his graduation he performed as a clown in a flea market while filming himself.

A keen skateboarder, and an avid reader of skateboarding magazine Big Brother. He'd often send in videos of his stunts and skateboarding which Jeff Tremaine, then editor of the magazine and later the director of Jackass, liked. The videos Steve-O sent in lead to Tremaine drafting him into a provisional cast for the MTV series of Jackass.

After the initial success of the series, Steve-O took to drugs and alcohol like a duck takes to water. Since 2002, he has been arrested for obscenity, assault, multiple drug possessions, disorderly conduct, deadly misconduct, and most recently trespassing during a SeaWorld protest.

During the filming of Jackass: The Movie, Steve-O was highly intoxicated throughout.

After the filming of the movie, a series called Steve-O: Out On Bail was released, which showed the stuntman on bail after Swedish prosecutors charged him with possession of ecstasy and marijuana.

Following the success of the first Jackass film, director Jeff Tremaine created a spin-off series with Steve-O and fellow cast member Chris Pontius called Wildboyz. The show revolved around similar stunts seen on Jackass, but had heavy involvement with animals.

The show went on for four seasons, with Steve-O still highly intoxicated, and is cited as the reason for Tremaine reassembling the entire Jackass cast for Jackass Number 2.

When filming began for the sequel, Steve-O was seemingly reaching his peak with drug use, with his love for cocaine, marijuana and nitrous oxide being well-documented.

Off the back of the film, he began a rather questionable rap career, releasing his inaugural album Hard As a Rock.

The songs were comical, but it's still really hard to gauge whether or not it was serious or a parody. He was so fucked up it could have been entirely serious.

During the debut of his first music video on the Jackass MTV 24 Hour Takeover, Steve-O was escorted from the building on account of his behaviour and intoxication.

Not long after, on March 9, 2008, friends of the star received emails that suggested his possible suicide. Those close to Steve-O, including Johnny Knoxville, rushed him to a hospital immediately, where he received psychiatric treatment.

Steve-O originally thought his drug use was helping his bipolar disorder, but later conceded that it was doing nothing but harming those that he loved.

After 115 days of sobriety after his rehab treatment, Steve-O announced he was 'back in the loony bin', meaning he had returned to a mental institution.

He said: "I've had horrible mood swings and severe depression. My brain is fucked up from using so much cocaine, ketamine, PCP, nitrous oxide, and all sorts of other drugs."

Apparently, the uniqueness of Steve-O's voice stems from his use of nitrous oxide, which changed his throat dramatically.

Thankfully, and much to the delight of his friends, family and his own health, he is now eight years sober.

A few releases have focused on Steve's drug use, such as Steve-O: Demise and Rise and Steve-O: Pounding Out Randoms.

He later admitted to not being able to watch any of the footage on the documentaries, due to the fact that seeing him doing drugs just made him want to do more.

He told Comedy Digital Radio station's Barry: "When I saw the footage of myself doing drugs I felt like I could see them, I could taste them. It made me crave them and as embarrassing as that footage is, that just seemed like another reason to get high.

"I couldn't watch it; I haven't watched it since then. The producers put it all together and finished it up without any input for me, it's better that way."

He returned for Jackass 3D, which he filmed totally sober.

After the film he also became a vegan, following a stunt with a ram that left him injured. He worried for the safety of the ram and therefore expressed some concern about doing stunts in the future that 'mess with animals'.

Since then he's been trying his hand at stand up comedy, travelling around the US playing in comedy clubs. He appeared on the Channel 4 show The Jump, and ended up dating another contestant, Stacey Solomon. He's now going out with famous tattoo artist Kat Von D.

In between these two relationships he was arrested for a stunt he pulled, where he climbed a crane in protest against Sea World's treatment of whales.

He recently went viral for his 'Titty Trick Shots'. A series of videos whereby he aims to get a bouncy ball in between Laura Lux's cleavage.

Chris Pontius

Pontius, who was perhaps better known for his nakedness and portrayal of different characters such as 'Party Boy', 'Bunny the Life Guard', 'The Devil' and 'The Strongman', rather than dangerous stunts, has kept himself under the radar.

He seems to keep himself to himself, skating and surfing. He also writes a blog for Gorilla Flicks, which can keep you up to date on some of the things he's doing.

As of late he's been touring Australia and New Zealand with Dave England, Wee Man and Preston Lacy. It's called The Jackass Filthy Seppo Tour, and consists of the four men doing stand-up comedy, telling funny stories from their days on set together, performing stunts and meeting the audience.

He also stars in an online Facebook Live show with Wee Man called The Boy and Man Show, which has previously featured Johnny Knoxville as a guest.

According to Jeff Tremaine, the director of Jackass and Wildboyz which both starred Chris, he was a big factor in getting Jackass 3D over the line.

The first clip sent by the producers to Paramount executives was 'The Helicockter', a skit where Pontius ties a piece of string to a remote control helicopter and his penis.

Apparently it was that good it gave the film the green light.

Ryan Dunn

Sadly everybody knows about Ryan Dunn. The star tragically passed away in 2011 after crashing his car into a tree, killing both him and his friend Zachary Hartwell.

Bam Margera has reportedly made a a film called I Need Time To Stay Useless which looks at the skateboarder's life, build up to Dunn's death and the aftermath. It is yet to be released.

Ryan's co-stars often say that he filmed the greatest skit they've ever done, 'The Butt X-Ray'.

In this bit Ryan lubed up a mini toy car inside a condom and inserted it into his arse. Walking around with it up there all day, he goes to the doctors for an x-ray, which showed the toy, clear as daylight, up his rectum.

RIP Dunn, and thanks for the memories.

Why We Don't See Much Of Johnny Knoxville Nowadays

Jason 'Wee Man' Acuna

Of course, you'll all remember Wee Man. Years ago rumours began to circulate about his death, which were absolute horse shite. One rumour was that he headbutted a bowling ball. I think even the biggest of jackasses would realise that might end in a long sting in the ICU.

He worked alongside Jeff Tremaine at Big Brother magazine where he was the subscription manager, and also featured in articles and videos thanks to his skating abilities.

He's a pro skater, and, as mentioned above, is currently touring with Chris Pontius, Dave England and Preston Lacy on the Jackass Filthy Seppo Tour in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2010 he became an owner of a franchise store of the Chronic Tacos restaurant in Redondo Beach, California. Chronic Tacos was originally founded in 2001, starting out as a small store which sold authentic Mexican food. Since then it has opened roughly 35 restaurants in the States.

In 2012 Wee Man starred in Elf-Man, a Christmas film where he plays a superhero elf. Probably keep that one on the shelf, to be honest.

Last year he appeared in a YouTube video which documented a day in his life. It showed him driving his customised '62 Chevy Impala, as well as shredding on his board and eating some tacos.

If, for some reason, you want to know how Wee Man drives, then click here.

Preston Lacy

A good mate of Wee Man's is Preston Lacy. Used more as a person to prank or to put into awful situations, Preston was often the butt of a lot of jokes. He admitted in a special feature on Jackass 3D that director Jeff Tremaine told him if he lost a certain amount of weight he'd be fired.

Much like Steve-O, Preston has also taken to stand-up comedy, launching the 'Preston Lacy: Fat Chance Tour'. Currently he's on the Jackass Filthy Seppo Tou.

He has acting credits on the films Christmas in Wonderland, The Life of Lucky Cucumber, A Holiday Heist, and Up on the Wooftop, as well as a writing credit on National Lampoon's TV: The Movie.

Back in 2010 he was arrested for possession of marijuana and faced up to two years in prison. Naughty boy.

Dave England

Dave England probably had the biggest niche throughout Jackass, as a self proclaimed 'professional shitter'. He too is a keen skateboarder and snowboarder - although he lost a testicle in a snowboarding accident before he joined the Jackass crew.

He appeared on the WWE Network shows Swerved, directed by Jeff Tremaine, where he competed in a food challenge against Hornswoggle.

He has four kids, and while he's not touring or skating he enjoys his family life. He has a daughter named Ruby, and three sons named Roan, Clyde and Van.

Ehren McGhehey

Known as Danger Ehren, McGhehey has perhaps been the quietest from the cast.

He had a a few cameo roles in the sketch show Portlandia, which aired in 2011 and is still going on the IFC network.

Ehren was an executive producer on the 2014 action comedy film All Hell Breaks Loose, which he also had a minor acting role in.

Away from the limelight he has become a photographer, which is all there pretty much is to say.
