Jamie Foxx Talks About Letting Ed Sheeran Sleeping On His Couch For Six Weeks

A great man.

Jamie Foxx is a man of many talents. He's funny, a great musician and an amazing actor, but none of that has gone to his head.

A quick look at any interviews shows that he's extremely down to earth, as well as truly hospitable, following recent revelations.

He told ET Online last week that did a truly selfless deed for fellow creative man Ed Sheeran, letting him stay on his couch for six weeks before he was famous.

"I had Ed Sheeran sleep on my couch for six weeks," Foxx said.

"Before he made it, he came to my crib.

"So did Anthony Hamilton, Nick Cannon, all these [people]. You gotta press anybody that's got that artistic feel, that touch, you've got to lift them up."

Appearing on last night's Graham Norton Show alongside Dame Judi Dench, Steve Carrell and Kristen Wiig, Foxx went into more detail about his former lodger.

He explained that he came across Ed when he hosted a radio show in LA, which the red head turned up to in hope that he'd get some of his music played.

The actor recognised the talent and so offered to take him in for a while until he starting making strides.

He then went on to explain that he took him to a weekly show he did in Los Angeles, to which he claims was a room full of '800 black people'...

"I said 'I think you've got the goods but I need to check you out', so I took him down to this show that I was doing every Monday in LA. There was like 800 black people. All black. Just like the best musicians in the industry and everyone was black. Black," he explained.

"All of a sudden, I'm like 'Here's Ed Sheeran,' and he pops out with his little red hair and ukulele.

"One of my homies - who's this incredible guitarist, but he's true to the music, is saying to me 'Foxx, come on man. What are you doing to the room right now, man? You gotta respect the room'. And then it was just like a movie, I said 'Well let's just see what the kid has'.

"He went out with this ukulele and got a standing ovation in 12 minutes and the rest was history."

Basically, is Jamie Foxx responsible for Ed Sheeran's success? I reckon he can take a chunk of the credit.
