'Mr Brightside' is one of the most ubiquitous songs of our time, a cultural behemoth which is either the apex of your night out or the worst song in history, depending on how cool you think that you are and how much time you spend in provincial nightclubs.

For me, it's the sound of the last year of Sixth Form College and thus it edges towards the latter, a permanent reminder of a time when The Inbetweeners was less of a comedy and more of a documentary.

Well, for those out there who think that it is the perfect song for a Saturday night sesh, well you're in for a treat.

While The Killers lyrics have never been the best - the band were famously parodied by Bill Bailey as 'I've got ham but I'm not a hamster' - there is someone on Reddit who has come up with a slice of genius to improve them.

Redditor Njayhuang has brought to light a video which has been online since December of last year and garnered a measly 56,000 views: a video which replaces the end of every line of Mr Brightside with google autocomplete results. Here it is in all its glory.

"I'm torn between the "she's touching my special area now" line and "destiny 2 is temporarily at capacity". I can't decide which one is my favorite," writes one Reddit commentator.

"It made me realize just how little I really care about the lyrics themselves, and that this song is really just a banger when it gets down to the basics," wrote one fan.

It's far from the only superb take on a classic song with one element changed. There's the famous version of 'Africa' by Toto that includes vocals that are one beat behind and one step out of sync, a work of genius for which the YouTuber should be carried around at shoulder height for all time.

Oh, and the version of 'Roxanne' by The Police that speeds up by ten percent every time that Sting sings the word 'Roxanne'.

If you haven't heard either of them before, then check them out and you can thank me later for a) ruining both of those classic tracks and b) ruining most of your afternoon.

You're welcome.
