For his usual standards, Conor McGregor has been extremely quiet lately.

Ever since he was arrested and charged with assault following an outrageous brawl in New York City, where the UFC fighter was filmed trying to throw a railing at a bus carrying a bunch of fellow MMA fighters which left them 'shaken'.

Since his court case he's kept his head down, only appearing on social media to wish his son, Conor Jnr, happy birthday, and to hint at a comeback.

Now, though, he's taken to Twitter to congratulate Cian Cowley on his first professional MMA victory at BraveCF13 over Daniel Olejniczak. Cowley will fly with McGregor to New York in a few days time for a court case regarding the altercation in the same city.

Despite The Notorious showing his soft side for his fellow Irishman, people were far more interesting in his appearance.

In fact, fans were quick to ask if he has put on weight while he's out of the octagon.

Even though he's wearing a baggy top, and there's no suggestion he actually has put on any weight, people jumped at the chance to troll him.

I'm not being funny but if that's considered overweight, then we're living in a fucked up world.

McGregor faces three charges of misdemeanour assault and one count of felony criminal mischief and will appear in court on June 14.

Following the bus attack back in April, a UFC spokesperson said: "The organisation deems today's disruption completely unacceptable and is currently working on the consequences that will follow.

"UFC is working very closely with the New York Athletic Commission, Barclays Center security and law enforcement authorities."
