An Epic Battle Between Two Robot Building Companies Is Taking Place

An Epic Battle Between Two Robot Building Companies Is Taking Place

Awesome.

For years Robot Wars has proven that there's nothing more exhilarating than robot battles.

That might be an exaggeration, but you can't beat a good romp in the arena, can ya?

Two years ago America's Megabots, makers of big dock off, menacing looking machines, challenged their Japanese equivalents to a duel, and now we're at a point where it's actually happening.

The battle between Megabots and Kuratas is reportedly scheduled for August, but will take place at a secret location.

According to Daily Dot, Megabots was founded by Andrew Stroup, Matt Oehrlein, and Gui Cavalcanti, and was created to "empower an entire generation of creators to actually build the robots of science fiction for the first time".

On the website it says: "The vision of MegaBots is to entertain a growing global audience of science-fiction fans and eSport enthusiasts by turning their dreams about giant robot combat into epic reality."

Kuratas are fairly similar in that they make huge robots to entertain people, as well as being able to dick about with a load of cool stuff.

We look forward to this battle just to see loads of explosions and shit. Fuck yeah.

Let's just hope none of them act like this clown...

This man (yes, fully grown man) was stood waiting with his team, Team Behemoth, on Robot Wars, as presenter Angela Scanlon revealed the judges' scores for the final battle.

He and his team were up against a group which was mainly made up of young kids and, when there was no clear winner in the final battle, it came down to the judges' decision. Unanimously, the judges went with the youngsters.

The sore loser then passes the remote control over to his teammate, then storms off in a huff.

Ant is the name of the disgruntled robot fanatic, and he's since explained his childish decision to walk off without congratulating a group of kids who managed to beat him.

He goes into some niche robotic bollocks about how attaching a 'grabber' for such a critical battle was a 'poor decision'. So he had his knickers in a twist with his team. Well, best thing to do, Ant, was to make a complete tit of yourself on national TV, pal.

Here he is explaining his motives...

"The reason I walked out there was because I was so annoyed at the team for making that decision not to go with a guaranteed win," he says. "Sometimes it's best for you to go with what you know works."

As much as I love Robot Wars, as I'm sure we all do - is this how serious people take it? I mean, I know he's probably spent a long time in his shed constructing that bot, but to react like that. Is that what he does when he plays Hungry Hippos with his kid?
