Nathan Wall's poor mother had absolutely no idea what she was walking into.

Unless you've had your head buried under a rock for the past two weeks, you'll have heard of the cultural phenomenon that is Pokémon Go.

It had overtaken Twitter and Tinder with active daily users in the US within a week and the launch in Europe had to be delayed because the creators had no idea just how popular the game would be and needed to upgrade their servers.

Nothing has captured the imagination of the public like Pokémon Go since the original Pokémon games came out in 1996.

Chances are the Pokémon Go creators weren't expecting so many adults to play. They'd probably had discussions about people who were kids in the late 90s playing for a bit before adult life got in the way and it'd therefore just be kids and early-teens playing.

If that was the discussion, they couldn't have been more wrong.

So much so, even grown adults who back in the late 90s were telling you to put down your Gameboy and go outside now want to play.

One such adult is Nathan Wall's mum, Sharon. Nathan is 22 and naturally has been caught up in the Pokémon Go whirlwind. His mother, 48, wanted in on the action.

Rather than just tell his mother how to download the game, he decided he'd try and play a little prank on her.

He managed to convince his mum that in order to get the game, you had to go to your local supermarket and tell staff: "I want to be the very best."

You'd think that was a bit too far-fetched...

But it wasn't. And, miraculously, Nathan managed to keep a straight face all the way to Tesco where his poor mother actually did it. Listen carefully...

"The people in the shop realised what happened and found it hilarious," Nathan, from Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, told TheLADbible. "I wouldn't say I got in trouble but I felt guilty for about 30 seconds. She took it in good spirits and is convinced she's going to get me back."

She may well deserve to get you back, doesn't mean she'll be able to top that.

As far as pranks go, that was absolutely superb.
